2008 Spring Wine Trail Adventure

Featuring Barrel Tastings and New Vintages at every Madera Wine Trail Winery!

May 17th, Saturday – May 18th, Sunday

10:00am to 5:00pm

The family wineries of the Madera Wine Trail will host “Spring Wine Trail Adventure” on May 17th and 18th from 10am to 5pm. Wine lovers may purchase a $20 Passport Wine Glass at any of the participating wineries both days of the event.  A vast and diverse array of current and new vintages will be available for tasting, as well as barrel tastings and pre-bottle samples of new wines. The Vineyard restaurant in Madera will be open all day Saturday May 17th and will waive corkage fees for bottles purchased on the Madera Wine Trail.  Contact the Vineyard at 559.674.0923 

Designated Drivers are always welcome on the Madera Wine Trail, and they are always free.  Drivers, be sure to ask for your “Designate Drivers – Madera Wine Trail VIP” package at your first stop!

Begin your 2008 Spring Wine Trail weekend experience at Birdstone Winery. Along with our usual Saturday and Sunday daytime happenings Birdstone will host the 2nd Annual “Concert on the Grass” featuring the “Soul Kings”!!!.  The concert will begin at 5:30pm on Saturday May 17th.  Chef Michael Mazzoni will have another incredible meal available all day and during the concert.  Find a spot on the courtyard or bring a blanket for the grass, have dinner, some Birdstone wine, then sit back and enjoy the concert.  Concert tickets are $2.00 and will sold throughout the day at Birdstone, space is limited.  All concert proceeds go the Alegria Guild of Children’s Hospital.

Come join the frivolity at Chateau Lasgoity and taste the wonderful array of summertime wines. Chateau Lasgoity will be serving Strawberry Zinaritas, a slushy treat made with their White Zinfandel, plus newly released 2006 Blanc du Val.  Local food, bounty & music will be available to accompany your experience at the winery. For the event weekend only, special case discounts will be available.  Patrons can also purchase lunch at the winery.

Come experience that special ambiance at Ficklin Vineyards, the first premium Port winery in California .  Taste our world-renowned gold-medal traditional Ports and pair them with chocolate, cheese, nuts and fruit.  Don’t miss out on our limited production white port, Adagio, as well as the flavored PassPorts and the L’Andalus dessert wine.  The Aged 20 Year Tawny Port was just released as part of a Portfolio Society shipment, so ask any staff about how to join and get this very limited bottling.  Be sure to take a moment to meet and visit with winemaker Peter Ficklin, who will offer tours of the 60 year old adobe winery building.  Please plan to stay for lunch with the Boy Scout Troop 130 barbecue.

Join us for a tasting adventure with a Latin flair at Mariposa Wine Company.  Enjoy this spring weekend relaxing on the deck with Latin Jazz performed by Mike Taylor’s Brazilian Project from 12:00 to 3:00 each day.  Back by popular demand will be our Red Sangria blended with our 2004 Yosemite View Syrah.  Take advantage of our spring-cleaning special, buy one case of 2004 Yosemite View Syrah and get one free, included with your purchase will be a bottle of sangria mix and our secret recipe.  Lunch is available from Ribs and Tips; they are preparing a special menu including carne asada and chili verde tacos.  Cacique will be here to provide samples of their Mexican style cheeses.  Selected wines from our complete award-winning portfolio of brands: CRU, Carmichael Vintners and Yosemite View will be available for tasting.  Take a moment to meet and visit with our winemaker Michael Leven while he conducts a fun sangria sensory tasting.  Arriba Sangria!

Quady Winery will be hosting Concert on the Court, a live blues and rock concert featuring the legendary Ron Thompson and Howl’n Howard after the Spring Wine Trail on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Limited tickets available.  Come out and enjoy the delicious award winning Quady wines paired with a variety of sweet and savory treats.  Surprise your palate by sipping on our popular Electra Freezes, The Vya (French Kiss), Essensia & Elysium spritzers and coolers, and our latest concoction - Purple Ice, while dancing to live blues, rock, and country.  The Madera Breakfast Lions will be serving BBQ meals to satisfy your lunch or dinner appetite from 12 to 7 p.m.
